One of the most important accessories that any woman can wear is perfume. As Coco Chanel once said “A woman who doesn’t wear perfume has no future” (okay, that may be a little harsh but I’m pretty sure she was on to something so who knows), but the point is that your choice of fragrance is can be important to your personal style! Two of my top favorite scents are Chanel’s “Coco” and Juicy Couture’s “Viva la Juicy” and I pretty much switch back and forth regularly.
The world of designer fragrances can get pretty costly, but it’s worth mentioning the difference between “eau de toilette” and “eau de parfum”. Eau de parfum establishes that the perfume has a very high concentration of fragrance, and typically they are sold in smaller-sized bottles because you only need a tiny bit and it will last all day. Eau de toilette on the other hand, denotes that the fragrance is diluted with more water and ethanol and (most of the time) tend to not last as long because there is less oil to absorb. Even still, some designer brands even create an extremely concentrated fragrance (I know Tom Ford tends to put these out) called “perfume extract” or “extrait”, which means there is typically between 20-40% concentration.
If you’re in the market for a new designer or signature fragrance, check out a few of my favorite picks below. Nordstrom is a great place to test out these perfume scents, and you can even try requesting samples to test at home. What is your favorite designer perfume? Do you switch it up frequently or stick to a signature scent? Let me know!
