Tampa Bay Fire Station Renovation

Community partners alongside Fire Chief Tom Forward, Mayor Bob Buckhorn, including Studio M Interior Design's Eric Miller + Adriana Rojas TAMPA, Fla. - Tampa Fire Rescue's station six has been around since 1914, and it's now better than ever thanks to community donations. Mayor Bob Buckhorn joined firefighters Tuesday afternoon to celebrate renovations made to the station, and to commemorate its 100 years of history. Firefighters will have recently-installed bunk beds, a study area, a new fire pole and new equipment racks. The renovation's project manager estimated approximately $63,000 in donations and $240,000 in donated labor. The project lasted about eight months, and there are still a few items left to install. Former fire captain Michael Morris walked through the rooms of the fire station where he used to work as far back as 1952. "I think's it's wonderful, because if you don't know where you come from, then you don't know where you're going. And this is history," Morris said. Luxe Magazine Features Studio M

“We were looking to open [the home] up more to the wilderness and add a more modern, updated vibe,” homeowner Joel Cantor says. “We wanted something a little different than the typical log cabin look.” After passing though a double-height ground-floor entry, an open stairway leads to the living and dining areas on the second floor to maximize views. In crafting the combined living-dining areas, interior designer Michelle Jennings Wiebe (who worked with the Cantors on several previous projects) found inspiration in the picturesque landscape. “They wanted a contemporary mountain look, warm but rustic. My intent was to take the colors from the outside and bring them in, but in a soft way.” … [Read more...]

Singing the Blues + Going Gold

Interior Design New - Industry News

May 11, 2014- Tampa, FL-The semiannual High Point Market, the furniture and interior design industry's equivalent of New York City's Fashion Week, did not disappoint this spring. As a former Style Spotter for the High Point Market, I saw that two trends overwhelmingly outshone all others: the wonderful color of blue and the luxe finish of gold. This lovely hue was prevalent in almost every showroom, a testament to its universal popularity. Classic navy was paired with crisp white. Shades of springtime periwinkle debuted. Pops of peacock blue made bold statements. In addition, cobalt, sky blues and icy gray blues rocked the new collections. Luxe gold was everywhere at the spring market, whether it was burnished brass, polished brass, gilt or gold leaf. It epitomizes opulence, but is being shown in fresh new ways with inspirations echoing back to the 1940s through the 1970s. You can read Michelle Jennings Wiebe's entire Tampa Bay Times article visiting here Michelle Jennings Wiebe, ASID, is founder, president and principal designer of the interior design firm Studio M Inc., based in Tampa.
