This may come as a shock to most people, but I actually do quite enjoy taxidermy. Not of real animals of course (seriously, that’s just creepy) but I have been seeing some outstanding rooms utilizing faux taxidermy heads or antlers, and I’ve fallen for the trend (I am weak!) As a lover of nature, I’d say that it only makes sense that I’m also a lover of animals and have several figurines and animal-oriented décor items throughout my apartment. Fun fact: I’d be a vegetarian today if bacon didn’t taste so freakin’ good!
I definitely don’t agree with game hunting, so the next best thing is the faux version. In my opinion, I think that the obviously faux versions look way better than the real thing, or an imitation for that matter! One of my relatives loves to game hunt, and I swear when I tell you that every inch of spare wall space is covered by some form of animal head! It is just plain sad and creepy to see such beautiful animals killed for their horns, heads and hides.
Fortunately for the rest of us, there are some really beautifully made alternatives to choose from, from papier-mâché to my favorite, white resin. I like the white look the best because it stands out against any color of wall, and it really fits in with every style of décor.
If you’re like me, and your into a modern, more eclectic design aesthetic, a beautifully made set of resin antlers would go great in your space. I’ve also seen some awesome gallery walls that incorporate these creations among frames and artwork, and it looks truly stunning. Whether you’re into embracing your inner Lion King, or simply admire the craftsmanship of those who create these artistic sculptures, then you obviously need one of these in your life. You can thank me later. Hakuna Matata, y’all!
