Blog Tour 2011 | London
I am SO excited to announce that in a few short weeks I will be jet setting across the big “pond” for the London Design Festival! This will be my first time visiting the mother land and reuniting with my roots, as I am one-quarter English. I can’t wait to use my English accent in words such as cheerio (not the cereal), cheers, and spot of tea (always wanted to say that)! Maybe I’ll even run into the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge?!
So what’s the occasion?! Blogtour 2011, baby! Yes, I have been invited along with twenty other interior designers, bloggers, and architects. This all expense paid trip is exactly what this girl needs to cap off her summer before a very hectic fall!
As the brain child of Modenus (an online design resource) and MMPI (Merchandise Mart Properties Inc. which is the company behind the Architectural Digest Home Design Show and MyDeco.com. Blogtour 2011 is the first ever, social media powered, design tour. The tour will be focused on creating a dialogue within the international design and cultural communities in the US and the UK. However the main goal is to highlight the importance and influence of London and New York as major hubs in the luxury design industry. So how cool is this?!
For six fabulous days I will be drinking tea, eating crumpets and participating in a fabulous set of interior design events that is sure to make Blogtour 2011 a blast! Below are a few of the trip highlights:
•Afternoon tea at Victoria & Albert museum with welcome by William Knight, director of the London Design Festival.
•Curated tour of 100% Design by Mix Magazine with focus on color trends for 2012 and beyond.
•Invitation only dinner at Conran headquarters.
•Morning at Brick Lane, home of some of the best vintage shops in London,
•A visit to TENT London and a walk over to Origin Contemporary Craft Fair.
•Afternoon at Design Centre Chelsea Harbour to see some of the design world’s greatest showrooms, including those of our sponsors Samuel Heath and Victoria + Albert Baths.
•Attend Decorex International
Like any tourist in a foreign land I can’t wait to see what the beautiful city of London has to offer… The Architecture, design, fashion, landmarks, food, and of course shopping!
Ok, I am officially ready to board the plane–next stop London, after I determine my wardrobe, of course! I’m thinking of a lot of tweed and plaid??
This incredible trip will be from September 21st through September 27th. I will be updating Twitter, Facebook, and the blog with my travels so be sure to check in from time to time. Cheers to London!!
